Kensington Primary School is located south of the Swan River and is 4 km’s from the heart of the Perth CBD. The school achieved its 90th anniversary in 2016, which was a cause for celebration within the school and community, and the P & C organised a fete in October to recognise this significant milestone. The buildings are well established, and a nature play area was built in 2015 with community support which has added to the quality of the well maintained grounds.
The School is now an independent public school, gaining that status in 2014. The Board is made of parent representatives, community members and several staff. The Board’s focus will be to ensure the successful implementation of the Business Plan 2015-2017 and compliance with the DOEWA “Delivery and Performance Agreement”.
Kensington Primary School’s Business Plan is designed to encourage student success in its many forms. This is underpinned by excellence in teaching and effective parental and community engagement. It outlines the key priority areas, strategies, school performance and student improvement targets intended to maximise success for all students, by focusing on their academic, social, physical and creative potential.
The vision is to ensure all students at Kensington Primary School develop the understandings, skills and attitudes relevant to their individual needs, thereby enabling them to fulfil their potential and contribute to the ongoing development of our society. With the strategic priorities being:
- Successful students
- Excellence in teaching and learning
- Engaging parents and community partnerships
Kensington PS will be guided by the Department of Education WA documents Focus 2016 and the new Strategic plan, High Performance – High Care: Strategic Plan for WA Public Schools 2016-2019. These documents outline the work needed to embed a culture of high performance and high care across the school both for our students and for our staff.
