School commenced for our students on Tuesday and it was like we were never away! Thank you to all our families who ensured that their children were school ready by having their uniforms and stationery all set for the first day back.
On Monday our staff attended school to complete professional development in understanding what autism is. This session was presented by Jo Denty from SSEND and was extremely informative. Support staff then worked on the Department’s Human Resources Management System with an officer from Central Office whilst teachers worked in their curriculum committees drawing up operational plans and scope and sequence outlines. It was a busy day but very productive.
Holiday Face Lift
During the break our friends from the Baha’i Community ran a holiday program for children attending the Kensington Primary School. One of the aims of this program is to provide a community service and once again the school has been the beneficiary of some hard work put in by the children attending.
The Kindergarten playground received a wonderful facelift with some very creative painting and decorations along a fairy theme. I know the children were extremely excited to see their playground had been visited by some very special guests.
Thank you Baha’i kids and leaders.

Waste Wise Warriors
Well done to Kiera Hughes who participated in the junior state swimming championships during the holidays and won the 100m freestyle, becoming the fastest 8 years and under girl in Western Australia. She also came second in the 100m breaststroke! A top effort.
Thank you to Andrea Cusack for creating the gorgeous three little wooden children at the entrance to the school near the nature play playground. Andrea has placed hair on each of the wooden children and encourages Kensington students to play with and change their hairstyles regularly which the children have been doing enthusiastically all week.
Yet another wonderful addition to our playground courtesy of another generous and clever family of the school community. They are just gorgeous, thanks, Andrea and her family. And, thank you Tanya and Andy Steers for the initial ideas and prior work on this area.
