A busy first semester will conclude on the 1st of July. Thank you to all the staff who have shown great dedication and professionalism in the education and care of our students. We look forward as a school community to the appointment of a new Principal for Kensington.
Thank you to Raema Stanford and Susan Millar for their work as Deputy Principals.
Parents will receive their child’s first semester report on the 28 of June. If you have queries, please arrange a time with your child’s teacher. I found this piece regarding reports from https://www.teachervision.com/report-cards/teaching-methods/3673.html.
“A child’s report card can bring feelings of joy, excitement, and pride; it can also cause concern, frustration, and uncertainty. In either case, the reporting period marks a new beginning to set goals and reflect on past work habits, achievements, and hardships. Most importantly, it is an opportunity for you to communicate with your children and determine a path for future academic enrichment and social-emotional growth.”
NCCD: (National Consistent Collection of Data for Students with Disability)
Teachers will be collating data for the annual review of students regarding NCCD. Parents may be contacted if their child’s classroom teacher determines they need to be included in the data collection. Please refer to the attachment FAQ for Parents and carers_NCCD.pdf.

It’s time for the students to put on their running shoes for this year’s Lapathon which will be held on Friday 1st July on the school oval. Please click here to view the event poster. The Lapathon is a whole lot of fun and great exercise for all kids at Kensington Primary School. It is one of the main fundraisers that the Kensington Primary School P&C run most years and it is hoped that everyone will join in the spirit of trying to raise as much money as they can for the school.
A course around the oval will be set up for the students to run around as many times as they can within 30 minutes. Kindy to year 1 will be running on a slightly smaller course. Parents are welcome to come along and watch or indeed join their children doing some laps, if they wish. The Lapathon will start at 2:00pm. Children will return to their classrooms before the bell at 3.00pm.
Students should seek sponsors prior to this event; sponsor forms have gone home (spare ones at the office) or you can click here to download the flyer and the forms.
Class teachers (& some parent volunteers) will mark the child’s arm (using washable marker) with how many laps run by each child and the children will bring home a ‘record of laps’ slip to enable the students to collect money from his/her sponsors.
All sponsorship money should be collected and returned to school by Friday 29 July.
