- Closing Date - 26 May 2022
Chances are that what you learned about Aboriginal History at school was wrong or incomplete.
Come along to this presentation and be prepared to be moved and enlightened.
The Blanket Activity was developed by the Canadian Aboriginal Rights Coalition to connect Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people with the history of Canada’s Aboriginal people. It has been adapted to become an interactive learning experience that explores the relationship between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people of Australia, particularly Western Australia; Perth.
As the name suggests, the Blanket Activity begins with blankets arranged on the floor to represent Australia before the arrival of European explorers and settlers. Our journey takes us on an immersive exploration of the nation-to-nation relationship with Aboriginal people, working toward reconciliation and empowering people to build bridges of understanding and respect. It is an experiential teaching tool to share the historical and contemporary relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people of Australia.
