Reports
Semester reports will be emailed out on Tuesday 28th June. If you have recently updated your email address, please ensure you have updated it with the school office.
Please also remember, as we navigate through the challenges associated with COVID-19, Semester 1 reporting will look different to what we normally provide. The report will include the A to E grades (or equivalent 5 point scale) for required learning areas. Information regarding your child’s attitude, behaviour and effort will continue to be reported. Our school will adjust the extent to which comments are provided. Only a general comment will be provided this semester (not an English or Maths comment).
RATs
We have been given 20 RATS per student. We still have a large number of parents who have not collected their allocation. If you haven’t collected them yet, please make every effort to do so ASAP from the office. As they are marked “Keep out of reach of children” we cannot give them to our students to take home. They must be collected by an adult. Thanks to those parents who have already collected their allocation.
Kindy 2023 applications for enrolment
If your child was born between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, you can now submit an application for enrolment for Kindy 2023. Please drop by the office to collect an application form or, alternatively, you can email kensington.ps@education.wa.edu.au and an application form can be emailed to you. Applications close on Friday, 22 July 2022.
Pre-primary 2023 applications for enrolment
Applications for enrolment have been sent home with all current Kensington kindy kids.
Please complete and return the application form to the office. You will need to provide two current proof of address documents – your most recent gas/water/electricity bill and a recent rates notice or lease agreement. You will also need to provide an Australian Immunisation Register History Statement showing your child’s current immunisation status (you can get a copy from your my.gov account). Any Family Court Orders or parenting plans registered with the Family Court should also be provided.
Please be aware that being enrolled for Kindergarten at Kensington PS does not guarantee your child a place in the Pre-primary program at this school unless your child lives in our local intake area.
Please contact the office on 6436 8448 if you have any queries.
P & C Meeting
Please note the next P & C Meeting date was changed and will now be held on the 28th June at 7.30pm. This meeting has been rescheduled to enable the plans for the bike shed improvements to be available for feedback.
Refund of Upfront Payments
As you are all aware, we have moved to paying for excursions online through Consent2Go and are no longer taking upfront payments.
Parents of students who had an unallocated credit remaining on their account from previous upfront payments were sent a letter last year asking them to select one of four options to disburse this credit. Thank you to all those who have returned their letter.
Can those parents who have yet to return this letter please do so ASAP, remembering to supply bank account details should you wish for this credit to be refunded to you.
Please contact the office if you would like a replacement letter or have any queries regarding this process.
Our owl is back again!
For the fourth year now our Southern Boobook Owl has returned to its peppermint tree home at the school.

We have organised a DUCKs Dads and Kids event at Rockface Climbing Centre on Saturday 25 June 2022 from 2pm until about 4.30pm. We would love to see a good turnout of dads and kids from KPS, so please lock the date in your calendar and encourage others to join. Further details can be found in the "Register Here" link below. Please email the DUCKs if you have any questions - DUCKS.KPS@gmail.com.
P&C Fundraising Update
After a quiet start to the year, the Term 2 fundraising activities are almost at a close. The election bake sale was a fantastic success and a huge thank you to our wonderful bakers and volunteers. We managed to raise over $2400 on the day of the election which is an incredible effort given how many people ended up voting early due to COVID.
Friday 3rd June brought the annual Colour Run. It may not be a race that stops the nation but there is a lot of work that goes into ensuring the kids have such a wonderful day. Thanks to Mrs Stanford for her guidance and support and to all the helpers on the day. Thankfully, the weather was good on the day and the kids had a great time - it was quite a sight to see the kids running through clouds of powder, and luckily most had dressed for the occasion! We have some very impressive athletes at the school so make sure you get them along to the running club on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 8am.
Remember that both the sponsorship forms and any funds raised are due to be returned in an envelope to the P&C box in the school office by Friday 17th June. If you didn’t receive a form, please include a note with the funds detailing your child’s name, room and total raised. If you prefer to transfer the funds, we still would like the form returned. For the transfer, please include the reference “ColourRun” and your child’s first initial and surname and class e.g. colourrun A Smith Rm1. Bank details - Kensington PS P&C | BSB 036-050 | Account 540 544. There’s a prize for the child that has raised the most in each year and these will be handed out in Term 3.

As you know, these fundraising activities are important to help improve the experience of our children in the school so thanks again for your contributions. We are planning a couple more events before the end of the year (trivia night, end-of-year kids disco) so stay tuned for more information. If you would like to know more or can help in any way, then please contact us at kensingtonpsfundraising@gmail.com. We’re always looking for people who can help with prize donations or sponsorship, for example.

Students can also take containers to an eligible Containers for Change donation point (e.g. Manning Markets on Saturdays and Vic Park Markets on Sunday).

Submissions close 26 June, and winners will be announced at the school assembly on 29 June 2022.

Containers for Change
We have a wheely bin and/or a wool bale in the quadrangle where you can deposit containers, help the environment and fundraise for the school all at once. We hope, with sufficient support from everyone, to expand this program.
