Protective Behaviours
All schools are required to teach students protective behaviours. We do so across the year to keep these important behaviours fresh in the children’s minds. You can access a parent protective behaviours handbook on our school website along with the regular school parent handbook (Parent Information Handbook - Kensington Primary School (kensingtonps.wa.edu.au) or below, for more information.

Food for Thought:
20 jobs kids should do before they turn 10
- Get themselves up in the morning using an alarm.
- Pack their own school bag each morning.
- Make telephone calls about simple requests, such as asking if a store has an item in stock.
- Look after the rubbish, including putting bins outside, emptying rubbish and recycling.
- Prepare healthy snacks before, during and after school.
- Make their own breakfast.
- Cook one evening meal a week.
- Walk to the shops on their own.
- Tidy their own bedroom and make their bed.
- Clean their part of the house, including tidying, sweeping and vacuuming.
- Keep clothes and shoes clean including using a washing machine and an iron. At the very least, put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket.
- Care for personal items such as toys, technology, sports and leisure equipment.
- Take messages to school, including delivering excursion notes and other important messages to the front office.
- Take responsibility for personal hygiene, such as brushing teeth, bathing, and keeping their face and hands clean.
- Feed and look after pets on a regular basis.
- Pack and unpack the family dishwasher or, alternatively, wash and dry the dishes by hand.
- Prepare the weekly family chores roster.
- Choose clothing each day within suitable limits.
- Make their own in-store purchases and shop for some personal items.
- Manage their own simple expenditures such as lunch money, entertainment expenses and personal items.

Use of Playgrounds After School
While we are happy for parents to supervise their own children in the school playgrounds after school, we do need everyone to vacate the school site by 4pm to enable the OSHClub (who have a Deed of Licence to use the site) and our staff to carry out their roles uninterrupted. Thank you for your assistance with this.

What's Been Happening
Harmony Day
On Friday morning, the school conducted its Harmony Day assembly where the junior choir sang a lovely song, Light a Candle. Each class also paraded to show their national costumes or orange clothes. It was amazing to see a sea of orange in the undercover area. The children from the Montessori school across the road from us, also joined in.
Later in the day, classes joined with their buddy class to work together on a variety of activities. Thank you to the staff for organising this lovely get-together for the buddies. See the photos of some buddies working together, below.
